Hello and welcome to & Create
Hello, I'm Jay Anderson.
I'm an artist, designer, illustrator and creative educator with a curiosity for making things and bringing people together. My practice moves between painting, illustration, graphic design and creative workshops, exploring the connections between art, nature, people and place.
With over 20 years of experience in the creative industries, my work has taken many forms, from visual identities and illustrations for international clients to personal projects, exhibitions and community-led creative experiences.
Increasingly, I'm drawn to slower, more tactile ways of working. Painting, experimenting with materials, exploring the natural world and creating opportunities for people to connect through creativity.
Alongside my personal practice, I'm Course Director for BA (Hons) Graphic Design at Birmingham City University, where I champion emerging creative talent and encourage a more thoughtful, sustainable and inclusive approach to design.
This space brings together the many sides of my creative practice. A place for art, ideas, experimentation and collaboration.
A little background
My creative journey began with a BA in Fine Art, followed by an MA in Art & Design: Interdisciplinary Practice. Over the years, my work has featured in publications including The Guardian, Design Week, Wallpaper*, Computer Arts and Frieze, and has been exhibited at the V&A in London.
I've been fortunate to collaborate with clients including WeTransfer, BBC, Channel 4, NHS, Jaguar Land Rover and Sky Arts.Today, my practice continues to evolve through painting, illustration, independent projects, teaching and creative workshops.
